Start a New Fiscal Year—Define Your New Fiscal Year window

This step of the Start a New Fiscal Year process requires you to specify details about the fiscal year you're about to begin.

Field Descriptions

Fiscal Year Just Completed

This field displays the fiscal year that you're closing.

New Fiscal Year

Type the new fiscal year in this field.

The Last Month of the New Fiscal Year

Select the last month of the new fiscal year from the list.

Number of Periods in New Fiscal Year

Select whether you want to use 12 or 13 periods in the new fiscal year. The thirteenth period is used by accountants to record accounting entries (such as depreciation adjustments) that don’t relate to a specific month, but which need to be incorporated in the full year’s reports.

If you are not sure which selection to make, select 13 or speak to your accountant.

Note that if you had 13 periods in the year that you are closing, and you recorded transactions in the 13th period, you cannot select 12.

If you do not want to start a new fiscal year, click Cancel.

Continue

If you want to continue with the process of starting a new fiscal year, click Continue.
