Settle Returns & Debits window (Receive Refund)

This window enables you to deposit refunds received from your vendors. Before you can record a refund, you need to have created a debit purchase for the amount.

Field Descriptions

Deposit to Account

Select this option if you want to deposit the amount directly into an account. Select the account you want to deposit the refund into. The accounts in this list are only those that have a bank or credit card account type.

Group with Undeposited Funds button

Select this option if you want to record a refund into the undeposited funds account. This transaction will be grouped with your other undeposited cash receipts. When you record a bank deposit, the receipts will be recorded in your checking account.

Balance

The balance of the account into which the refund will be deposited.

Vendor

The name of the vendor whose debit purchase you selected to refund using the Purchases Register window.

ID #

The identification number is automatically generated. You can enter a different number if you want.

Amount Received

Enter the amount of the refund, or accept the default amount, which is the entire amount of the vendor debit.

Date

Enter the date you are depositing the refund.

Payment Method

Enter the payment method that the vendor used to give you the refund.

Details

Click to open the Applied Payment Details window and enter additional information about the refund.

Memo

Enter a description of the transaction or accept the default description. This description appears on reports and in the Cash Receipts journal.

Rate

Click to open the Exchange Rate window. This window displays your current currency, the Transaction Exchange Rate and Current Exchange Rate. This button appears only if you selected the I Deal in Multiple Currencies option in the System view of the Preferences window.

Journal

Click to open the Transaction Journal window where you can view a list of your transactions.

Record

Click to record the refund.

Cancel

Click to close the window without recording the refund.
