Transactions CAN'T be Changed; They Must be Reversed [System-wide]
Choose whether your accounting information, such as individual transactions, can be changed once the information has been recorded.
If you mark this selection, entries you've recorded in AccountEdge can't be edited; instead, they must be reversed. If you wish to keep an audit trail of the errors and corrections made to your financial records, you should mark this selection.
If you don't mark this selection, all entries you make in AccountEdge can be edited. (Choosing changeable or unchangeable transactions)

Lock Periods: Disallow Entries Up to and Including -- [System-wide]
Select an accounting period from this list to disallow transaction entries from occurring in or before the period you select. This prevents you from inadvertently adding, changing or removing transactions in periods when changes could disturb the accuracy of your financial records.
Making a selection here is a safeguard against making entries in the incorrect period; it doesn't close the period, erase transactions or permanently prevent you from recording a transaction in or before the period you select.
The list includes accounting periods in both your current and next fiscal years. It also includes a selection that disallows transaction entries dated before your current fiscal year.
If you need to make entries in or before the period you select, you can select an earlier period. (Note, however, that if you record a transaction in an earlier period, your financial statements -- such as your balance sheet and profit and loss statement -- for that month and all succeeding months may be affected. You may want to reprint them after you enter your transactions.)

Prompt for Data Backup When Closing
Mark this selection if you want to be alerted to back up your data every time you select Quit AccountEdge from the AccountEdge menu (OS9: Quit from the File menu) or Open from the File menu. In the alert, you can click Yes to automatically create a backup.
Prompt for Session Report When Closing [System-wide]
Choose whether you'd like a session report to be printed every time you exit AccountEdge.
If you choose this option, you will be alerted to print a session report each time you select Quit, Exit, Open or New from the File menu.
If you choose to print a session report, the command you chose (Quit, Exit, Open or New) is canceled. After the report is printed, you will have to choose your command again, and then select No Report in the alert box.

Warn Before Recording Post-Dated Transactions
Note: The Company Data Auditor scans for future-dated transactions.
Mark this selection if you want to be alerted each time you enter a future date in a transaction entry window. This message is informational only; you can continue to enter the post-dated transaction if you want. (The Future Dated Transactions report displays all the transactions that are dated after the current session date.)
If you don't mark this selection, you won't be alerted when you enter a date in the future. [Giving transactions a future date (post-dating them)]
Check Data File for Errors before the Backup Process [System-wide]
Mark this selection if you want to check your company file for computer-related errors before you begin the backup process.
If you mark this selection, the Check Company File for Errors selection in the MYOB AccountEdge Company File Backup window will be marked automatically. (Backing up company files)

Prompt for Data Verification When Opening
Mark this selection if you want to be reminded to verify your company file every time you open it in AccountEdge. Data Verification checks the company file for errors and alerts you to problems that could make your company file unusable.
If you mark this selection, alert messages will appear at regular intervals when you open your company file, to inform you of the number of days since you last verified your company file and to remind you of the importance of performing this task. (Verifying company files)
I Prefer to Use Automated Online Company File Confirmation [System-wide]
Mark this selection if you want the recurring confirmation of your company file to happen online automatically when you open your company file.
When you activated your company file, you had to follow this with a confirmation process. At that time you were given the choice to confirm by phone or online. After the initial confirmation, this process is required on a regular, recurring basis.
You must be connected to the Internet to use this preference.

Use Audit Trail Tracking [System-wide]
Mark this selection if you want to activate a tracking system that records and reports changes performed to your company file.
The tracking system records on specific transactional, tax, accounts and system changes. (Changes and entries recorded by Audit Trail Tracking)
You can print the Audit Trail report, where you can view all the changes made to your company file that were recorded by the Audit Trail Tracking system. It includes when and who did the change and what was changed and can be sorted by change type, date or user ID.
Audit trail changes -- the changes that appear in the Audit Trail report -- is one of the criteria that the Company Data Auditor checks for, and the Audit Trail Report is one of the reports you can view from the Assistant if there are any changes reported. (Using the Company Data Auditor Assistant)
