Accrual Information window

Accrual Name

The name of the accrual you're viewing appears in this field. If you're creating an accrual, enter a unique name for the accrual in this field. You can delete or change information for any accrual.

Type of Accrual

Select the type of accrual:

USER-ENTERED AMOUNT PER PAY PERIOD: Choose this selection if you want to manually enter the hours accrued on each employee check.

EQUALS __ PERCENT OF __ : Choose this selection if you want this accrual to be incremented on every paycheck as a percentage of hourly wages. If you choose this selection, enter a percentage and select the hourly wages from the list to indicate which hours the percentage will be based upon.

  1. Select Gross Hours from the Percent Of list if you want this accrual to be a percentage of all hourly wages you pay an employee.
  2. Select Federal Hours from the Percent Of list if you want this accrual to be a percentage of all taxable hourly wages you pay an employee. This selection excludes those hourly wages that you’ve made exempt from tax.

EQUALS __ HOURS PER __ : Choose this selection if you want this accrual to be incremented by a specific number of hours. If you choose this selection, enter a number of hours and select a time period -- Pay Period, Month or Year -- from the list to determine the number of hours that will be accrued on each paycheck, regardless of the number of hours the employee worked.

Print on Paycheck Stub

Mark this selection if you want information about this accrual to appear on employees’ paychecks.

Payroll Year End: Carry Remaining Leave Over to Next Year

Mark this selection if you want any unused accrual hours from the current payroll year to remain in this accrual after the start of a new payroll year. If you mark this selection, the hours remaining in this accrual at the end the payroll year will appear in the Carry-over field for this accrual in the Accrual Balances window for each employee to whom this accrual is assigned.

Linked Wages Category

Enter the hourly wage to which you want to link this accrual. You can also click the search icon and select the wage you want from the list. When you pay an employee using the wage you enter here, the number of hours you enter for this wage will be subtracted from the number of hours the employee has accrued.

Employee button

Click this button to open the Linked Employees window - Accruals, where you can assign this accrual to employees. You can also assign accruals to employees in the Payroll Details view of the Card Information window.

Exempt button

Click this button to open the Accrual Exemptions window, where you can select the wages from which the displayed accrual is exempt. Click OK to accept the selections you make in this window.

This button is active only if you marked the Percent Of selection in the Type of Accrual field and chose Federal Hours or Gross Hours from the list.

New button

Click this button to create a new accrual.

OK button

Click this button to accept the entries you’ve made and close the window.
