Most of the state and federal forms that you prepare using your software’s Payroll Tax Forms features require periodic updates to ensure that you’re always using the most current versions.
If you’re registered to use the Payroll Forms Service, you will be reminded to update your out-of-date forms on a quarterly basis. So that you’ll have ample time to prepare your forms for each quarter, the reminders will begin to appear at least 10 days before the beginning of the next quarter.
You’ll also be alerted whenever a new version of the Payroll Tax Forms system is ready to download. In addition to the latest versions of your forms, your updates will include any new Payroll Tax Forms features and fixes that have been implemented since the last update.
To manually check for updates to your payroll tax forms

When editing a form using the Payroll Form Viewer, go to the Help menu and choose Update Forms. If there are updates, the Payroll Tax Forms Updates window appears.

Click Next. The update begins and a progress bar indicates the status of the download.
