Using the MYOB Learning Center

The MYOB Learning Center is designed to answer your questions about MYOB Accounting Plus and to help you make the most of your software. Use this page to become acquainted with the Learning Center and use it more effectively.

Displaying the Learning Center

Since you’re viewing the Learning Center, we assume that you’re familiar with at least one way of displaying this help system. There are a number of ways you can start the system:

  • By clicking the Help button in any Accounting Plus window. These buttons appear in the lower left corner of the windows.
  • By pressing F1.
  • By choosing MYOB Help from the Help menu in Accounting Plus
  • By pointing your web browser to http://help.myob.com/.

The Learning Center — on your computer and on the Web

If you chose to install the MYOB Learning Center on your computer when you installed Accounting Plus, the full Learning Center is available to you at any time. If you chose not to install the Learning Center, you still have access to a few important topics like Late-Breaking Changes, but no other help files are available on your computer.

Even if you chose not to install the Learning Center on your computer, you can access it on the World Wide Web if your computer has access to the Internet. The Learning Center on the World Wide Web is updated on a continuing basis. This makes it a great resource for the latest information about Accounting Plus, even if you’ve installed the Learning Center on your computer.

Switching between your computer and the Web

There may be times when you want to switch from the Learning Center on your computer to the Web-based version, or back again — for example, if you lose your Internet connection, or if you can’t find the information you want on your computer and you want to check our updated version on the Web. To do so:

  1. Choose Preferences from the Setup menu that appears at the top of the window in Accounting Plus.
  2. The System tab should be selected. If it isn’t, click on it to select it.
  3. Depending upon where you wish to view help, mark or unmark the option titled “I Prefer to Use Help From the Internet, Rather Than My Computer.”
  4. Click OK.

If your web browser is open, the information in the browser will be refreshed, and help for the currently active window will be displayed, from the location (your computer or the Internet) that you selected in step 3. If your browser is closed, the change will take effect the next time you display the Learning Center using Accounting Plus.

You can switch between the two help locations whenever you like. Keep in mind, though, that you must have a connection to the Internet if you wish to access the Web-based version of the Learning Center.

Making the most of the Learning Center

Although the MYOB Learning Center is compatible with most web browsers, your experience with it will be more enjoyable and productive if your computer system meets the following requirements:

  • You should be using a Microsoft or Netscape Version 4 browser or newer. (Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 is preferred.)
  • Your monitor resolution should be set to 800 x 600 or greater.
  • QuickTime 4 must be installed if you wish to view movies within the Learning Centre. We also recommend that your computer have a SoundBlaster or compatible sound card and speakers so you can hear the audio portion of the movies.
  • If you wish to view the Web-based version of the Learning Center, your computer must have access to the Internet.
