Security

Securing the information in your company file

There are a number of tools in MYOB FirstEdge that provide a master password that limits entry into the company file and ways of tracking changes that were made.

Using the Security view of the Preferences window

The preferences listed in the Security view of the Preferences window offer a variety of options that help preserve the accuracy of your accounting records and protect your data file.

Using master passwords

You can use a security system based on a master password that is used to control access to the entire FirstEdge system. You can have only one master password in a single company file. Using a master password is optional.

Choosing changeable or unchangeable transactions

You can specify whether your MYOB FirstEdge transactions will be changeable or unchangeable after they've been recorded. That is, you can choose either to edit and delete transactions that are recorded in your company file or to maintain a comprehensive history of all transactions you that you enter.

Changes and entries recorded by Audit Trail Tracking

When you mark the Use Audit Trail Tracking preference in the Security view of the Preferences window, you activate a tracking system that records and reports (in the Audit Trail report) specific transactional, tax, accounts and system changes performed to your company file.

Using the Company Data Auditor Assistant

The System Data Integrity Assistant provides a high level integrity check of the data contained in your MYOB Data File. This gives you and your accountant added assurance of the integrity of the data.
