To add design elements to a form

The Customize window for the form you want to customize must be open. [To customize a form for later use (Setup menu) or To customize a form before sending]

You can add any of these elements to your form: text fields, pictures, rectangles or lines. You may find it helpful to display the layout grid as you add and position design elements. (To use the layout grid)

  1. To add a text field, rectangle, line, or picture (such as a company logo), click the corresponding button in the toolbar at the top of the Customize window.

  2. If you're adding a rectangle or line, click in the form layout at the location where you want the element to appear, then press the mouse button and drag until the rectangle or line is approximately the size you want it to be. If you'd like to further modify the element, go on to the next step; if you're happy with it, you're done!

If you're adding text or a picture, click the location where you want the element to appear. A field will appear where you clicked.
  1. Double-click the element you just added. Depending on the element you selected, either the Field Properties window for graphics or the Field Properties window (data and text fields) appears.

  2. Use the options in the Field Information or Field Properties window to precisely position the element you've created and to change other attributes, such as the font, font color and size of text; and the thickness, color and shape of lines, rectangles and text field borders.

If you're adding text, be sure to type the text you want in the Text field.
If you're adding a picture, click the Load Picture button, then use the dialog box that appears to choose the image you want to use.
  1. You can create a layered effect in your form by using the Move to Back or Bring to Front buttons on the toolbar. Use these two button as you need to position design elements under or on top of other form elements.

  2. Click OK to return to the Customize window.
