Restoring company files

The MYOB AccountEdge Restore command closes the company file you're currently using, decompresses an AccountEdge backup file so you can use it, and opens the decompressed file. If you want, you can use other software programs to decompress a backup instead of using the Restore command. Many other popular decompression programs will also restore your backup files.

Restoring backed-up company files requires single-user access to the company file; in other words, only one person can use a company file during the backup process. Anyone else using the company file will have to close it -- either by exiting AccountEdge or by opening a different company file -- before the backup can continue. To see which users currently have the company file open, choose Active Workstations from the File menu.

AccountEdge Network Edition: Restore company files using the host computer

In our instructions for backing up your company files, we recommended that you use the AccountEdge Network Edition software on your host computer to back up your company files. Assuming you have done this, you should also use the host computer to restore your company file backups. If you have used a workstation to back up your company files, you should use that same workstation to restore the company files, as well.
