Inventory > Track Serial Numbers
To track a serial number you must first go into the item profile and select I Track Serial Numbers for This Item. Once this option has been selected the Serial Numbers tab is available. A transaction must be recorded to track a serial number. You can also apply warranty information to an item when the item is sold.
Note: if a sale has been recorded before selecting Warranty Applies when Sold, a serial number may be listed but the Warranty date will not be assigned. This option must be selected prior to the sale of the item.
To setup an item to track serial number

Go to the Inventory command center and click on Items List. The Items List window opens.

Select an item you want to track serial numbers for and click Edit. If the item is a new item, click New.

Click I Track Serial Numbers for This Item. When this option is selected the Serial Number tab is now available.
To add or create a serial number on a purchase

Go to the Purchase command center and select Enter Purchases. The Purchase - New Item window opens.

Click on the serial number selector. The Assign Serial Numbers window appears.

Select Add ?? consecutive numbers, then click Create. The serial number(s) will appear in the list along with the status of each number listed.

Click OK to accept the changes and close the window.
To add or create a serial number on a sale

Go to the Sales command center and select Enter Sales. The Sales- New Item window opens.

Click on the serial number selector. The Assign Serial Numbers window appears.

Select Add ?? consecutive numbers, then click Create. The serial number(s) will appear in the list along with the status of each number listed.

Click OK to accept the changes and close the window.
