Accounts
To enter budgets for an account
The Prepare Budgets window should be displayed.
Note: The 13th period can't be budgeted
Note: You can create budgets only in the local currency.
- Select the fiscal year for which you want to enter a budget.
- Select the account type of the account for which you want to enter a budget.
- In the list of accounts, highlight the account for which you want to enter a budget.
- There are several ways you can go about entering the budget:
- Click the Copy Previous Year's Actual Data button to copy the last fiscal year's actual account balances into the corresponding months. You can edit any of these entries to enter the expected activity for the account to create the new year's budgets.
- In the first month's column for which you want to enter a budget, enter the amount of expected activity for the account. Then click the Copy Amount to Following Months button to copy the same amount into all the subsequent months in the fiscal year. You can edit any of these entries to create the new year's budgets.
- Starting with the first month column for which you want to enter a budget, enter the amount of expected activity for the account and then do the same for each subsequent month.
Keep in mind that you should enter the expected activity for the account, not the expected balance of the account at the end of each month.
For example, if your March budget for an account is $10,000 and your April budget is $10,500, enter $500 -- not $10,500 -- in the Budget column for April.
Idea: Remember how positive and negative numbers affect accounts (budgets)
- Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for each account for which you want to enter a budget.
- Click OK when you're satisfied with your entries in the Prepare Budgets window.
